Enterprise support AI approved for rollout
Clarified who needed to approve it, how it would work, and what had to be checked before launch.
- 1 week: To a working demonstration
- Signed off: Rollout approved after months stalled
- 60-page: Approved process followed, not replaced
Before
A Fortune Global 500 telecoms company handled high-priority support incidents that could affect entire customer sites. They’d invested heavily in a carefully checked 60-to-100-page process map and brought in a vendor to prove the concept. Months in, the project had stalled. Several people inside the company were against it, leadership was comparing vendors without knowing what was actually possible, and the vendor was building for a good-looking demo rather than how the work really gets done.
The hard part
Nobody had shown that the AI could follow the company’s approved process rather than replace it. The project manager and the senior developers all believed they understood the problem, but no one had faithfully turned the 60-page spec into a working system. And the vendor had underestimated how much the company valued the process it had already paid to build.
What got decided
Reading the full 60-page spec and rebuilding the system to match how they already work, with clear points for people to check and step in, produced a working demonstration in one week. That settled three things:
- This can be done without dropping our process. Shown, not argued
- Stop comparing vendors and start rolling out
- Roll it out to other teams, several of which asked for demos once they saw it working
Result
The rollout was signed off. Support agents who tested it backed it strongly, the company shifted from comparing vendors to rolling out, and the people who’d been against it were won over by seeing it work.
When a company has invested heavily in a process it trusts, the question that unlocks everything is whether the new approach can respect what they’ve already built. Showing that in one week settled what months of vendor comparisons couldn’t.
